About the book
In the 1960s, a generation of Americans discovered Eastern spirituality. Many of them began their search for cosmic consciousness at the local Transcendental Meditation center. Many more recognize the famous guru of TM, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, known as the “Beatles guru” for his association with the Fab Four.
The public saw the bliss and incense, but few people knew what happened inside the TM organization, which insiders call “the Movement.” If you want to hear that story, you’ll have to read The Maharishi Effect.
About the author
Author Geoff Gilpin spent five years in the Movement and he saw it all—the transcendent joy, the bad karma, and the slapstick comedy. He still practices TM twice a day as he has for over three decades.
In the material world, Geoff is a technical writer and computer software consultant. He has a BA from Maharishi International University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College.
